It smells of poo.

Snagyourhome®️, expert witness, construction defects. This area of work is challenging and enjoyable, some things I find crack me up and this is one of them.

Some of the new build stuff never ceases to amaze me.

A new build house in Co Antrim. All of the usual advertising/billboards about quality etc. You would be sure there would be a Clerk of Works on the job! Third party warranty and ‘signed off’ (which obviously means the house has no quality issues). The purchaser thinks it’s wonderful ????

This stinks, well the living room did. The smell was worse at night time. A proper poo smell, in fact it was a sewer smell.

A 110mm sewer pipe into a foul manhole that apparently wasn’t servicing any bathroom, toilet or sink. It was rodded and mysteriously the rod wouldn’t (when measured) go far past the section of the external cavity wall.

A temporary bung was placed in the pipe in the said manhole and as if by magic the living room stopped smelling of poo.

So there you have it folks. A £185000 house with a live sewer vented into the cavity wall and living room sub structure.
